Saint
Luke's Parish School Mission Statement
Saint
Luke's Parish School provides a weekday ministry to young children
through an early education program, which fosters cooperation
between home and school. Our goal is to help the whole child
grow in a developmentally appropriate atmosphere:
* Emotionally
- to create a positive self-image with the ability to express
oneself
* Socially - to learn to get along with others
* Physically - to develop muscle coordination and
the ability to care for oneself
* Intellectually - to encourage a deepening curiosity
* Spiritually - to foster a sense of wonder
We are non-profit, licensed by the State of Connecticut, and have
achieved accreditation from the National Association with Early
Childhood Programs. We are also a part of the National Association
of Episcopal Schools.
Our
Faculty
Professional growth of faculty is maintained through regular teacher's
meetings, in-service training programs, and attendance at workshops,
conferences, and seminars. All staff members are fully accredited
and first aid and CPR certified.
The
teachers at SLPS come form six countries. They are a phenomenal
group of well-schooled and educated individuals representing such
schools as Manhattanville, Fordham, Sacred Heart University, Catholic
University, Southern CT, Bates College, St. Lawrence University
and Hunter College. .
SLPS
Management Board was established, as a committee of the Vestry,
in the winter of 2003 by the Rector, Wardens and Vestry of Saint
Luke's Episcopal Church to assist in the management of the School's
operations. The Board ensures that the School operates in harmony
with the Parish, safeguarding both the original vision of SLPS
and its future.
