Our Work

This is some of the work from Church School.

Creation
A poem written by Saint Luke’s fourth and fifth graders on September 11, 2011, inspired by Genesis 1-2

In the beginning
I see nothing.
I hear nothing.
I feel nothing.
I taste nothing.
I smell nothing.

Day One
I see a warm yellow light.
I hear nothing.
I feel nothing.
I taste nothing.
I smell nothing.

Day Two
I see the shimmering brightness.
I hear crashing waves.
I feel the salty clear ocean.
I taste the dryness of my mouth.
I smell the strong scent of sea.

Day Three
I see water and land.
I hear waves whooshing.
I feel wet ground.
I taste drops of water.
I smell vegetables.

Day Four
I see the brightness of the sun and the dimness of the moon.
I hear wind in the leaves.
I feel the burning sun on my skin.
I taste the plants that have grown in the sunshine.
I smell the roses and all of the flowers.

Day Five
I see birds hovering over.
I hear the stream stirring.
I feel very cold water in my hand.
I taste the wind blowing in my mouth.
I smell the salty ocean.

Day Six
I see animals and humans.
I hear a big thump from an elephant and snakes slithering.
I feel the heat on my skin.
I taste the fresh fruit from the trees.
I smell the salty sea air.

Day Seven
I see the light shining.
I hear the animals roaring.
I feel the water’s waves against me.
I taste the fruit and meat.
I smell the flowers blooming.

Prayer of Anna and Simeon
By the 2nd Graders of Saint Luke’s (Sept 2010)

Dear God, Anna and Simeon waited their whole lives to see Jesus. Thank you that we know Jesus while we are still young. Please help us see the light of Jesus and feel His Glory. Amen.
Our Creed
By Second Graders (2008)

We believe that God created the universe, including bugs, animals and humans.
We believe that Jesus was God’s Son. He taught everyone about God and helped other people. He died on the cross and rose from the dead three days later.
We believe that the Holy Spirit came to Jesus when he was baptized.
Amen
A Collect for Families

Holy Lord,
Who is gentle, kind, and forgiving,
We ask you to
love us no matter what we do,
help us to have patience with our brothers and sisters,
and give us peace in our families,
So that Earth can be like Heaven.
Through Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen.
